Ive used both! And somehow I prefer Bittorrent! But both are basically the same! What I did was load the same 3 torrents(movies) in both Bittorrent 6.2(now I use 6.4) and utorrent 1.8.x(dont remember) at the same time and check the results! Though I was impatient and have to accept that I deduced my preference a bit too quickly, what I found was that Bittorrent picked the seeds quicker and showed a higher download(and upload) rate at the end of 4-5 minutes! May be it was just a matter of chance, and may be the results for you will be different, but since then Ive torrented with only Bittorrent especially since Ive never had any problem with it! And ya my seed ratio is 1.4! So whatever software you use, dont forget to keep it idle when not downloading and seed for a few hours1 If you leach, the whole purpose of torrents is lost, no matter what software you use! Download and seed! And enjoy...for free! Welcome to the world of Free Entertainment;-)

i have used both bitorrent 6.4 and utorrent 2.0 at the same time and downloaded the same torrent. I have found that bitorrent 6.4 has been giving better and consistent download speeds as compared to utorrent. I have tried this many times with diff torrents in both clients. I have found that utorrent does not work for me

I've used both and although i might be biased because i've used bittorrent from the very beginning, I think BitTorrent is a very efficient program and does a wonderful job to download files, I've had little to no problems with BT. Well I started using UTorrent first and stayed with it for a year until something very strange happened. Somehow all of a sudden I picked up 1 seed when I had only 2 seeds for an older movie downloading. The next thing I know "hey great I picked up a 3rd seed and the speed started to pick up. After a minute or so the whole UTorrent program begin to flicker that was like a strobe light with the app window shuttering 10k per millisecond. And then I started seeing this "ffffffffffff" key strokes beginning to appear anywhere on my screen where text can be typed except I am not hitting any keystrokes on my KB. This webpage window popped up in front of the app window of UT and don't have a clue where it the BeJesus it came from. Here is the kicker. When I looked at my DVD RW Drive indicator in "My Computer", instead of the normal DVD RW Drive I. indicated in the text box in My Computer there was instead the letter designation that looked like this,"fffffffff" in its place. I had a "Ghost in the Machine" to coin one of my old favorite but goodie songs from one of my favorite concert groups, the "POLICE" So I then installed, "Bit Torrent" and have not had any problems since, i fact I have noticed significantly higher download speeds for whatever that is worth to you empirically.

Simply put, they are made by the same developers. Stable versions of BitTorrent are released a few weeks after uTorrent's stable versions. They are the same, just different logos. If on the other hand you want to use beta / aplha features, you will have to use uTorrent as BitTorrent does not have anything but stable releases. If you don't care for betas / alphas, it's just a matter of purple vs green.

bittorrent and utorrent both are doing well just the difference is only uploading speed.. utorrent gives 40% ratio of downloading speed, like if any file is downloading at the speed of 55Kbs then uploading will be arround 25Kbs - 30Kbs while in Bittorrent .. it gives full uploading speed of 50Kbs.. i wonder it's working so because of it is a Full Featured Application while utorrent is a tiny client of Bittorent.

I keep trying to tell people this on the BitTorrent forum, but my comments keep getting deleted by the moderators, so I'm re-posting here: "Unbelievable - I posted on this forum this morning, saying that version 7.6 deliberately provides slower speeds, to force people to upgrade to the plus version - and the moderators deleted my comment. At the time I wrote that, I wasn't 100 percent sure I was right, it was more guesswork - but the fact that my comment was deleted absolutely confirms that it's true. As I said in my deleted comment - it's very easy to revert to an older version of bittorrent, and you'll have your full speed back without having to pay. Just uninstall and reinstall with, say, version 7.1, which you can easily find with a google search. Your old torrents will remain active after the re-install, so you won't lose any data. It took me about 30 seconds to do this. So spread the word, people."

I personally prefer utorrent. Most people prefer BitTorrent only because it was released first and they're more used to it than utorrent. Most of the peers for my utorrent downloads show utorrent as the torrent downloader most people use, so I just a*sume that since more people are downloading a torrent with utorrent, it would be faster to download that same torrent with utorrent.
