It's official: windows live messenger is excellent, skype is brilliant, jabber is first rate, xmpp is cool, yahoo messenger is first-class, irc is a good choice, gtalk is fairly good, twitter is ok, imap is so so, pop3 is ho-hum, myspaceim is inferior, facebook is inferior, bonjour is cannon fodder.
