As one who has used both, I'll tell you that Fedora is more stable, more professional, and generally a more solid distro than Ubuntu. While I dislike GNOME 3, it still beats Unity in my opinion.

fedora is the way to go, it has excellent spins (try lxde,xfce), i do like gnome 3 and shell as well (infact very much) and freaking stable,it mayn't be flashy , but it doesn't get ugly when one program pisse(crashes), ubuntu's GUI becomes one from 1995 when something goes wrong.
